The extent is unknown, but this is Addai's first missed practice of the season. He had arthroscopic knee surgery during the 2009 offseason. Owners should be clinging tight to Donald Brown, who's coming off one of the better games of his career. The 2009 first-round pick accounted for 88 yards and a score on 17 touches against the Giants. The Colts visit the Broncos in Week 3.

The Colts aren't making this easy on anyone by listing so many players as questionable against the Chiefs, but Addai is perhaps the most likely to play of all the players wearing "Q" tags. The Colts need him, because Javarris James is their only other healthy back.

Addai was unable to finish the Colts' Week 5 win over K.C., but only because he became "sore" in his right shoulder and neck area. His participation in Wednesday's practice indicates that Addai will be ready to go against the Redskins. He currently ranks 19th among running backs in fantasy points.

"I should be all right," Addai said Thursday. "There wasn't any damage -- just a little sore, just a little tender. It's just day by day ... I think I should be able to be in there for the whole game and be able to give 100 percent." Donald Brown (hamstring) returned to a limited practice Thursday, but Addai remains the more likely of the two to start.

It's no surprise that Addai is missing practice, but it's a concern that Brown still isn't ready after the Colts' bye week. Beat writer Phil Wilson believes Brown will end up missing this week's game, with Mike Hart being used as the primary ballcarrier. The Colts have the Monday night game, so there's still a chance Brown or Addai will return to practice by Saturday.

"If the game were today, I'd play," Brown assured Friday morning. He expects to push his nagging right hamstring by returning to practice Friday afternoon, and the Colts will practice again Saturday. With Joseph Addai (shoulder) expected to be held out, Brown stands a good chance of starting and splitting the workload with Mike Hart.

Colts RB Donald Brown remains on track to play Monday night in Week 8 against Houston.

The early game plan for both teams figures to be an arial assault, but if the Colts jump out to a big lead expect Brown to get a solid amount of looks. He's a weak end RB2/flex option for owners with players out on byes.

Donald Brown - RB - Colts Donald Brown was a full participant in Colts practice Wednesday
It appears Brown was pulled for ineffectiveness rather than an injury in favor of Javarris James late in Monday night's win over the Texans. Brown managed just 29 yards on 11 touches. Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star still expects him to start in Week 9 if Mike Hart (ankle) and Joseph Addai (shoulder) can't play. The Colts face the Eagles' No. 18 rush defense. Brown may have to carry the bulk of the load. Joseph Addai (shoulder) isn't expected to play, and beat writers remain "in the dark" on Michael Hart's ankle injury. Brown is the only one of the top three backs practicing, and he looks like the only one the Colts can count on this week. He should be good for RB2 value against the Eagles.

Joseph Addai - RB - Colts Joseph Addai (shoulder) missed Colts practice again Friday, according to ESPN's John Clayton.
With Mike Hart (ankle) also not expected to play, Donald Brown is setup for his first career start. He's a risky, if potentially high-reward fantasy play against the Eagles. Brown had only 16 yards on nine carries in Week 8, and appeared to be benched for ineffectiveness late in the game. November 5 - 1:13 p.m. ET

Wilson believes Joseph Addai (shoulder) is "likely" to return to game action in Week 11 at New England.
Wilson is reading the tea leaves after chatting with Addai on Tuesday. Addai intends to "try" to return this week against the Bengals, but he's dealing with pain and limited range of motion. With Mike Hart still nursing an ankle injury, early signs point to Donald Brown carrying the load again with Javarris James at the goal-line.
